NetSTORM reads and writes ASCII  text files with the format 

MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM Value [Gage]

or

Gage YYYY MM DD HH MN Value

 

Dates in source data may use any of these formats: M/D/Y, D/M/Y, or M/D/Y

 

where:

        Gage = gage number

        YYYY MM DD HH MN = year month date hour minute

        Value = data value (e.g. inches of precipitation)

 

This file may tab, space, or comma delimited. The program expects data to be entered sequentially in the file. Times with zero precipitation are normally omitted. The gage number and minute columns are ignored by some of the data analysis modules, which expect hourly data for a single gage.

NetSTORM can also read formats distributed by NCDC.  Note that NCDC changed these formats slightly in 2000, so older files may produce erroneous results. An hourly data format is shown below:
